Accreditations: Jerry Dover has been a member of the Equipment Appraisers Association of North America (EAANA), Pittsburgh, PA, since 1992, and earned his Certified Senior Appraiser (CSA) designation in 1999. He has served as Director, President, Vice President, and Chair, Public Relations Committee of the Association. For over ten years, Jerry served as Chair of Appraisal Review and Ethics Committees. Currently, he serves as Ethics Chair.

As a Member of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA), Jerry earned the designations of Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA) in 2006, and Master Personal Property Appraiser (MPPA) in 2008. He is in compliance with the re-accreditation requirements of both EAANA and NAA.

Appraisal Experience: Since 1999, Jerry has completed appraisal assignments intended for use by major equipment financial and leasing companies, commercial banks, contractors and other business owners, attorneys-at-law, accountants, turn-around specialists, governmental bodies, and other appraisers. The assets inspected and appraised have involved construction, utility, concrete and asphalt paving, lifting equipment (cranes, aerial and fork lifts), environmental, boring and drilling, forestry, turf and nursery equipment, heavy duty vocational trucks and trailers, light and medium duty trucks and automobiles, hot mix asphalt, concrete ready-mix and recycling/shredder plants, quarries, mining and material distribution facilities, dredges and sand plants. Other assignments included mechanical shops, sawmills, building products machinery, cabinet, wood-working, stone, packaging and graphics printing, plastic production machinery, metal fabrication machinery, tools and laboratory test equipment. Also, antique and collectible equipment and vehicles, office furnishings and equipment, and other personal property have been inspected and appraised. Some of these assets have been appraised as Inventories for asset-based lending and ad valorem tax uses.

Jerry’s market experience is renewed by his attention to auctions results, dealer contacts, and his daily exposure to market prices through appraisal engagements. His appraisal assignments are conducted as if the reports are going to be tested by a court of law and collaborates with other appraisers, when appropriate, to assure his findings and conclusions are credible. Jerry has given expert testimony at depositions and at several Federal Bankruptcy and Domestic Courts.

Market Experience: From 1977 to 2005, Jerry successfully co-owned and managed an independent construction equipment dealership, Dixie Crawler & Equipment Co., Inc., for over 28 years at Lilburn, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. In 2005, Dixie Crawler was liquidated in an orderly manner and dissolved by the owners. By providing Clients re-marketing services, Jerry bought, sold and leased construction equipment for over thirty years, both domestically and internationally. Although Jerry primarily operates in the southeast, he has served Clients throughout the U. S., and in South America, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and the middle-east.

Jerry was an independent contractor/territory representative with Martin & Martin Auctioneers, Inc. for over eleven years until July 2010, when he became a full time appraiser. This auctioneering firm conducted auctions of personal property including construction equipment, production machinery, trucks, automobiles, trailers, agricultural equipment and attachments, office equipment and furnishings, shop equipment and hand tools, and real estate.

Previous to Jerry’s experience with the equipment industry, he was employed by Alcoa, Marriott, and Rollins Corporations in sales and human resources positions. He also served as a Lieutenant at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA, and as Executive Assistant to the Chairman, Board of Commissioners, DeKalb County, GA.

Education: Jerry has a BS degree from Georgia Tech and a MS degree from George Washington University. He completed the NAA Graduate Personal Property Appraiser’s Course in 2006 and 2015, the USPAP 15 hour course in 1999 and 2003, and the USPAP 7-Hour Update Course on January 24, 2008, January 28, 2010, January 26, 2012, January 23, 2014, January 28, 2016, January 25, 2018, and February 6, 2020.
